Meet Meredith
Creator of the Fiat Fitness Project, Catholic convert, former collegiate gymnast, coach, wife, and mother.
Hi! I’m Meredith Yonushonis, and I wear many, many hats. My main role is my vocation as wife and mother. I’ve been married to James, a former-wrestler-turned-chiropractor, since 2009, and we have seven amazing kids.
Prior to being married with children, my main identity was found in sports. I was a gymnast from the age of 3 to 22, and earned a full scholarship to Penn State where I was a 3-time team captain and All-Big Ten selection.
After college, I met my now-husband, who was discerning the priesthood. I was Methodist growing up, so starting to date a Catholic man who was so deeply rooted in his faith brought up many questions. He and many friends answered them, shared books and CDs, and spent countless late-night conversations helping me understand the Catholic faith. I came into the Church at the Easter Vigil in 2007.
Since becoming Catholic, my faith has been of the utmost importance to me. I’ve tried to integrate it into everything I do, from coaching gymnasts as an assistant coach at Ohio State to coaching women with health and fitness online since 2016.
In the fall of 2022, the idea came to combine the prayers of the rosary with a burst-style HIIT workout. From there, Fiat Fitness Project was born. As Mary uttered her “Fiat” to the Lord, I ask the Lord to let His will be done unto me and all who participate in these workouts and programs.
It is my sincere hope that this will bless you and help you strengthen your relationship with Christ while also strengthening your physical body and your self-confidence.
